A south bound North Western Pacific freight derailed ten cars by tearing out 165 feet of track at the Geyserville switching yards Friday afternoon. No injuries were reported, but traffic halted until 10:30 p.m. while 40 laborers built a shoe fly around the wreck. Engineer George Gilliam said an air hose coupling broke as he slowed near town, causing an emergency stop. the 65 car train originated at Willits and was bound for Sonoma.

Five Injured in Sunday Potter Road Crash
A Sunday morning crash on Potter Road near 144 miles north of the Highway 20 junction injured five people. Albert Corkin, 16, of Potter Valley drove a flatbed truck and Howard Brooks, 63, of Potter Valley drove a Chrysler sedan. Brooks reported seeing the truck before the impact, and a head-on collision occurred. Patrolman Warren Truitt issued a reckless driving with injury ticket to Corkin. Three injured were taken to Ukiah General Hospital by ambulance. others were treated at the scene. Mrs. Mary Rupe, 78, plus Otto Hughes, 72, Irene Brooks, 62, Sadie Hughes, 65, sustained minor injuries. Brooks has a serious skull fracture. all are hospitalized with Brooks expected to recover.
