Minor Accidents Reported by Highway Patrol

Two minor highway accidents were reported by CHP patrolmen on Thursday. Both incidents caused no injuries and only minor vehicle damage. The first occurred at 4:15 p.m. on Redwood highway south of the old Highway 20 intersection involving Carol Ryan and Lillian Symons, both Ukiah residents, as Ryan entered from a private driveway. The second, at 11 p.m. on Fast Redwood Valley road north of Calpella, involved Rose Mary Hubbard of Redwood Valley and Dennis Murray of Calpella. investigation by Patrolman Bakker continues.

Ukiah Cheer Leaders Head To Redlands For Training

Four Ukiah High senior girls chosen as the 1950s cheer squad depart by 4 40 Greyhound for Redlands University for an intensive training session. Marie Gundy Susan McCombs Dana Newell and Claudia Wilson will be the seventh group sent from Ukiah. Training previously took place in Los Angeles. They return July 18. Costs are covered by the student body and the cheerleaders with a $100 contribution from the student body and the remainder paid by the girls.

Chamber Execs Hold Institute at Stanford University

Ukiah Men doccino County Chamber of Commerce Manager C Paul Satterley notes the Western Institute of Commercial and Trade Executives will meet Monday at Stanford University. Viet Nam raid leaves several dead civilians injured

US civilians recount a Viet Nam era home invasion where Chester M. Oonand of Copperas Cove was cut down while changing film, Maj. Buis killed, a terrorist killed by a bomb blast, and Capt. Beston wounded. The raiders fled, pursued by a small local security force. none were captured. Capt. Beston was evacuated to Saigon then Clark Field Hospital.

Eldorado Forest Fire Nears Control In California

Forest officials predicted the 50 acre Eldorado National Forest blaze would be under control later today near Placerville. Reported at 1 p.m. Thursday the fire burned 20 miles east of Placerville between US 50 and Highway 88. Five firefighters remained on the line as four aerial tankers dropped borate solution until sundown.

Coroner Reno Bartalomie ordered an autopsy to determine the death cause of Emanuel G. Souza 61 a Hollifield Lumber employee found dead while peeling timber on the Day ranch west of Philo. Souza a Portugal native survived by wife Esabella burial in Ukiah Catholic Cemetery.

Grivette Funeral Set For Monday

William Hubert Grivette of Ukiah aged 6d died today. He was a Louisiana native born Sept 5 1894. A World War I veteran and former fireman at Durable Fir Lumber & Plywood, Calpella. Funeral Monday 2 p.m. at Eversole Mortuary, Rev H M Bisby officiating. Burial in Ukiah Cemetery. Model Home Displayed On Maple Avenue Opens Today

Public showing of a new model home on Maple Avenue near the golf course opened today and runs tomorrow and Sunday. Built by Ray Jean of Premier Homes and shown by Art Alwyn of Mendo Realty and Investment Co, the western style home features three bedrooms a family room about 1500 square feet a breezeway and a two car garage. An art exhibit by Mendocino County Art Association’s Valley section is on display as a special attraction. Public invited.
