Salinas VPI reports Sharon Clark a practical nurse from Binghanton New York woke to find her pet lioness Phyllis had given birth to two cubs Ezra and Rastus in the motel room. Clark plans to find them good homes. manager Irving Bowker questioned what happens next as she feeds the cubs with baby bottles.

Ukiah to Offer Evening Public Swim Schedule
Beginning Monday July 12 the Ukiah Swim Center in Ukiah municipal park will open 7 to 9 pm on Monday Wednesday and Friday for public swimming weather permitting Recreation Director Dave Strong announced. Fees mimic daytime public swim 1 to 5 pm weekdays and 1 to 6 pm weekends with 50 cents for adults 35 cents for high school students and 25 cents for elementary students. Swimmers must bring their own suits and towels. For more information call 462-5604.

Ecumenical Vesper Service Aids Lake Mendocino Visitors
The Ukiah Ministerial Association launches a united outdoor service for campers at Lake Mendocino with a 7 p.m. Vesper at Ye Olde Camp Meeting between the Mesa picnic circle and Camp Cedar. Rev. Talmage crash injures Ukiah woman
A Friday morning crash on Mill Creek Road in Talmage left Elsa Dresbach of Ukiah with minor injuries after Pansy Gerling 74 and Richard Teague 32 both Ukiah residents failed to stop in time. The collision occurred at 11 30 a m about 100 feet east of Eastside Road with three hitchhikers involved.
