Brandishing weapon in bar jails Ukiahan

Two men argued in a Ukiah bar with guns leading to the arrest of Dan E. Clyburn, 33. Deputies found him intoxicated and jailed him on drunk charges, later releasing him on bail. Investigation found a concealed weapon, a .32 revolver and a .44 Magnum were seized. DA may pursue charges.

Legerdemain Saturday at club meeting entertains members

Frank Morse of Napa, who bills himself as probably the world's greatest magician, will perform Saturday afternoon for Legerdemain Club. The 2 p.m. meeting opens, with Morse’s show at 2:30. Refreshments follow. Morse is a 50-year professional entertainer now retired but still occasionally active.

VW Dealer Burglary Reported on N State Street

Representatives of Chuck Hillery VW reported a burglary at the car lot. Sometime after hours Wednesday an unknown instrument unlocked a car and a stereo and gear shift knob were removed. The stolen value was about $203. Deputy Charles Jackson filed the report.

Ukiah man files $20,000 auto crash suit

Robert Wood of Ukiah files a $20,000 civil suit in the county clerk's office naming Max Owen Berlin and his parents as responsible for injuries and damages from a Sept. 24 collision at the East Calpella Road and Moore Street intersection. He seeks $10,000 for injuries and $10,000 to replace his vehicle and cover losses from his log ripping business.

Burglary Reported At Pacific Reef Cabin

Katharine Tucker of Piedmont reported a burglary at her Pacific Reef area vacation cabin. Deputy Max Anglin noted items stolen including rugs clothing art supplies tools and food. total loss estimated at 1464 dollars. Break in occurred between December 16 and January 19.

Stolen stereo tape leads to teen detention in Ukiah

Ukiah police detained a 17 year old Thursday night after a routine vehicle check at the city park revealed a stereo tape under his coat. Check showed the unit was stolen in the Willits area. He was released to his parents after detention on possession of stolen property charges.

Injured Woman Assisted By Ukiah Fire Crews

Fire department ambulance crew responded to 66 year old Virginia Rich at 120 Ford Street Ukiah for a fractured leg and took her to Mendocino Community Hospital in satisfactory condition. A resuscitator team aided William Huback at Gibson Lane Potter Valley to Ukiah General Hospital after neighbors found him in need of help.

Lawyer seeks reduced bail for Lee Moore

California's Supreme Court orders an showing of cause on why 23 year old Lee Moore of Santa Rosa should not be released from Mendocino County jail on habeas corpus or bail reduction. The case ties Moore to a Fort Bragg LLD manufacturing operation. Bail stands at 100000 to 200000 and a return is due. Moore faces trial February 15 in Mendocino County.
