Blaze kills Ukiah woman in Louise Court apartment
Five opened cigarette packs lay on a coffee table as flames from a cigarette on a sofa engulfed a 3-A Louise Court unit. Mrs. Carol Y. Jordan, 68, died at Ukiah General Hospital after firefighters forced entry and found her on the living room couch. The fire caused major smoke damage and minor rear-wall burn. Authorities sought dental charts for identification and noted it was Ukiah’s first fatal fire since 1970.
