Lottery plan to fund schools proposed in California
SACRAMENTO UPI Separate bills in the Assembly and Senate by Los Angeles Democrats to create a state operated lottery to finance local schools. Assemblyman Leon Ralph and Sen. Mervyn Dymally led the 1972 effort, with last year’s similar bills dying in committee. A Dymally spokesman said the new constitutional amendment is essentially the same as the prior proposal.
