County boards to discuss Career Opportunities Development program
A joint meeting of the board of supervisors and civil service commission is set for Wednesday at 10 a.m. to review the states Career Opportunities Development COD program under the Welfare Reform Act of 1971. The program aims to reduce public dependency by creating public service career opportunities for welfare recipients and disadvantaged people with about 800000 allocated for state and local grants and technical assistance.
