Seven year old Alexander Bering needs blood to stay alive

A seven year old Ukiah boy with classic hemophilia lies in San Francisco's Children's Hospital in critical condition. Ukiah residents are urged to donate blood next Saturday at the Sonoma County Community Blood Bank visit to the city, with the drive at the Veterans Memorial building from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers should avoid eating or drinking four hours before donation. Alexander, son of Dr. and Mrs. Clifford Bering, has received 40 pints so far and urgently needs 100 pints to fight a severe internal bleeding episode. He attends Seventh day Adventist School on South Dora Street and has two sisters and a brother.

Supervisors OK Partial Pay Schedule Across County

The board of supervisors adopted a uniform partial monthly wage schedule upon the county auditor S. E. Mitchell recommendation. The plan fixes pay by hourly rate to resolve past delays for vacations terminal leave and other matters. Workers range from 37 1/2 to 48 hours weekly across departments including surveyors office road department and sheriff.

Supervisors to Attend Flood Damage Meeting

Mendocino county supervisors and officials from Marin Sonoma and Napa counties will meet tomorrow evening at the airport cafe in Santa Rosa with Congressmen Scudder Engle and Col Graf to discuss flood damage and county road and bridge conditions following December floods. Graveside Rites Planned for Cletus Byrnes in Ukiah

Cletus Byrnes son of former Sheriff Ralph R. Byrnes died of a heart attack at his Mendocino city home. He was recently employed by Union Lumber Company and a World War II veteran who served asjustice of the peace and deputy sheriff. Surviving: wife Catherine, son Michael, daughter Kathleen, brother Robert. Ukiah Farm Loan Names Rawles To Directorate

McDonald Rawles a prominent sheep rancher in Anderson Valley is named to the Ukiah National Farm Loan Association board to fill the Everett Dutton vacancy. The appointment was announced by Carrol Ornham, secretary treasurer, and aligns Rawles with Mendocino County livestock leadership. Ukiah Names Stanley Stafford New Recreation Director

Stanley Edwin Stafford, 30, named Ukiah recreation director replacing Joe Juliana. Former Los Angeles recreation leader and Culver City staffer, Stafford holds a BS in recreation from Los Angeles State College and served in the Navy and Korea era. NWP Freight Runs One Train Daily Tiburon to Willits

E L Ely reports freight service on the Northwest Pacific Railroad runs one train daily from Tiburon to Willits due to flood damage. Before the flood the line carried three freights daily. passenger service is discontinued pending track and roadbed repairs. Track north of Willits and near Scotia is being rebuilt. two miles of trestles require completion before service resumes.

Harold Smith Buys Cadd Meat Market

Harold H. Smith of Sacramento purchased the Brownie Drive-In Market meat business from Ed Cadd and took possession January 3. Cadd ran the shop nine years, served in World War II, and will enjoy a long, unbroken rest.
