Ukiah band auction gets pickup service from locals
Two Ukiah band members Greg Steliga and Bob Stout have started a pickup service to collect donated items for the annual band auction set for Saturday February 13 at the old Bank of America Building on School Street. The service operates seven days a week until the auction, with donations accepted to move swiftly to the sale site. Steliga can be reached at 462 6057 and Stout at 462 4149. The auction runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and donors are invited to participate by bringing items or dropping them off for sale.

Willits youths injured in Highway 20 rollover
Two Willits boys suffered minor to moderate injuries when a single vehicle rolled off Highway 20 one mile west of the Potter Valley turn-off Friday night. Driver Randy Chaffin 16 said he was blinded briefly by oncoming lights and overcorrected after regaining vision. Passengers Ralph White 18 and Victor McDaniels sustained cuts and abrasions as their car was totalled. Officers Vernon Caughey and Kenneth Heil investigated.

Ukiah and Potter Valley youths held for forging checks
Two 16 year old boys from Ukiah and Potter Valley were arrested Saturday night by Det. Vernon Bach on forgery charges after allegedly forging checks reported stolen Friday by a Ukiah woman. They were placed in juvenile hall.

Highway 20 Crash Injures Two in Mendocino Area
A Highway 20 collision near the Lake Mendocino boat ramp injured two people Thursday. Ray Reed of Superior Wisconsin age 66 suffered major injuries and Caroline Sahlman age 68 of Redwood Valley was treated for minor injuries. drivers Hjalmar Sahlman age 69 and Louis Sprague age 52 escaped injury. The crash occurred as Sachrman drove to show the Wisconsin visitor scenery and could not avoid a dump truck working along the roadside.
