Stayman Convention helps find a major fit after 1NT
In bridge, the Stayman bid 2C asks partner if he has a four or more card major. With South holding four spades and four hearts, North should bid 2C and, if partner replies 2H, raise to 3H or higher. If partner bids other than 2H, retreat to 2NT. The line leads to at least game when combined point counts exceed 26.
