Planners approve clear zone removal of homes

The planning commission approved by a 4 0 vote the adequacy of the environmental impact report for removing about 30 homes to create a clear zone at each end of the airport runway. It authorized a meeting with affected owners the City Attorney Randy Hays planning staff and FAA to answer questions.

California's population surpassed 22 million by November 1 1977 driven by higher births and net migration with 342000 births and 190000 net migrants for the year ending July 1 1977. Northern counties grew about a third faster than Southern California while deaths remained flat.

Redwood Valley district ends water to Garzini family amid disputes

The Redwood Valley Water District ordered removal of a water tank truck supplying Louise and Albert Garzini after they claimed blasting damaged their well during a $6.2 million pipeline project. District officials cited rain runoff and lack of obligation to continue service, while noting condemnation actions and rights of way negotiations remain unresolved. The loan for domestic and irrigation water was approved in 1972 to serve 2660 people, with about 700 to 800 signed up so far.
