A Covelo area fire destroyed the home of Cleo and wife O Ferrall about 12 to 15 miles from Covelo. Three children aged 7 to 13 were inside. a 13 year old girl hid in a ditch as neighbors watched anxiously. Firemen arrived after the frame dwelling burned to ground. The house was the former ranch home of George M Biggar.

First Papers Filed in Sullivan Estate
Michael Sullivan a 79 year old Hopland construction engineer died last Wednesday leaving an estate valued in excess of 10 000 dollars per a petition for letters of administration filed in superior court by Public Administrator R F Gibson. The estate includes real and personal property but is not itemized and no will was found. Kasch and Cook represent the petitioner. Funeral services were held at St Marys church with interment in Ukiah Catholic cemetery by Zimmerman Mortuary. Sullivan a seven year county resident worked on Panama Canal construction and Pacific island projects and was a World War I veteran born in Massachusetts. A niece Mary Sullivan arrived from Boston for the funeral.

Mendo Mill Home Destroyed In Sunday Fire
The Wesley Summerfield home at Mendo Mill off Low Gap road burned to the ground Monday morning with no furnishings saved. The Summerfields, away visiting relatives in Missouri and Oklahoma since December 16, left Christmas holidays and were advised by wire of the loss. Nearby homes, Al Amarant and Ted Houser, suffered heat damage as crews struggled to save them. firefighting facilities were limited and no forestry truck was available.
