UCLA Bruins Extend Win Streak With 40th Victory

UCLA, led by Lew Alcindor with 28 points, beat Minnesota 95 to 55 to stretch its winning streak to 40 games. The top-ranked Bruins opened 11 straight points, led 51 to 25 at halftime, and can tie or surpass the San Francisco record in upcoming games.

McKay Plans Using Trio Of Quarterbacks

Ukiah Wildcats Rally To Edge Eureka Loggers 64 63 In Tourney Opener

In Chessall Gym the Ukiah Wildcats overcame a 10 point halftime deficit to beat the Eureka Loggers 64 63 on opening night of the Holiday Invitational. Kirby Walsh nailed a 30 footer to tie 61 61 and Dennis Cooper hit a final second jumper before Walsh sealed it with a late free throw after a steal. The Loggers though fought to the end with Nate App and Jim Kehl providing late threats.

Ukiah edged Eureka by a late rally to reach tonight’s second winners bracket game versus Palo Alto. Palo Alto overwhelmed Fortuna 72 52 as Mark Daley led with 19 rebounds and Stan Willson scored 24, while Napa and Cardinal Newman won to join them in the winners bracket.

Robertson Reigns as Royals Top Lakers in High-Scoring Affair

Oscar Robertson scored 34 and set up 12 as the Cincinnati Royals defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 132-126. The veteran guard nears 6,000 career assists while Mel Counts led LA with 30 and Archie Clark added 28.
