Kord Kontrol Foils Light-Fingered Shoppers This Christmas

Chicago business owner Roger Leyden promotes the Kord-Kontrol anti shoplifting device as a deterrent during the holiday rush. The ropelike cord tying items is linked to a wall module with a battery alarm that sounds if pulled or severed. A jeweler and other retailers report reduced losses, noting the system costs about $50 per unit. Leyden, a former Air Force electronics trainee, founded Secure Controls seven years ago to combat theft. He cites shoplifters often work in pairs and says crowds and distraction during Christmas hinder security staff.
