California taxpayers who bought new cars or light trucks after August 15 and claimed the federal excise tax refund can also seek a state sales tax refund from dealers. State Board official William Bennett notes refunds apply when dealers present proof of federal refunds. Estimated 400,000 vehicles purchased since repeal date may qualify.
A compilation of Christmas requests from Ukiah area children ages 2 to 11. The notes ask for cars dolls toys bicycles and toy sets with mentions of family details and local places. Several letters reference Santa visits in Chico and Cunningham Lane.

The Ukiah Jaycees granted an honorary membership to Iver Suess, manager of Ukiah Bank of America, in recognition of support to Novato Jaycees. Suess, guest speaker at the Ukiah chapter meeting, discussed bank bombings and fires and fielded banking questions. The club also issued a certificate of appreciation.
Singapore plans another 100 acres of city center land for a new park, expanding the extensive green belts project. The initiative aims to enhance urban open space and environmental appeal within the central area.
