Los Angeles Lakers beat the Boston Celtics 101 to 100 in Boston as Frank Selvy hit late free throws and a field goal to seal the win. Elgin Baylor limited to four points, Jerry West added 24, Selvy 25, and Sam Jones scored 26 for the Celtics.

Coach Stub Allison Dies

Former University of California football coach Stub Allison died at 69 after a illness. He led the Bears from 1935 through 1944, guiding the 1937 Thunder Team to a Rose Bowl victory over Alabama 13 to 0. He later worked 15 years as director of industrial relations at the Oakland Naval Supply Center.

Washington State end Hugh Campbell to receive Voit Memorial Trophy

Washington State University end Hugh Campbell will receive the W. J. Voit Memorial Trophy as the outstanding player on the Pacific Coast. Campbell led the nation with 53 receptions for the Cougars and was named to the UP All America team. Terry Baker of Oregon State was runner up with 33 points.
