After about four hours of public input the Ukiah city council approved a conditional use permit for Hillside Hospital to build a new 43 bed facility north of Perkins Street and east of the railroad. The 3 2 vote saw Mayor Weinkauf and Vice Mayor Wood opposed with environmental impact concerns and rezoning debates dominating a crowded hearing.
