Willits native Phil Jordan joins St Louis Hawks in Bay Area clash

Phil Jordan, a Willits born 6 6 center weighing 220 pounds, started for the St Louis Hawks against the San Francisco Warriors at the Cow Palace. The six year pro told of his path from Whitworth College to the NBA, noting Chamberlain's challenge and his growth as a team player and defender.

Fresh Soph and Senior Basketball Open in Ukiah League

Ukiah Recreation Department starts its Fresh-Soph league at Chessall gym with six games at 6 30 p m and 7 30 p m and 8 30 p m. Junior Senior play begins Thursday at 6 30 p m with four matchups including Mysterians Vikings and Peelers The Clan.

Men's Golf Club Plans December 12 Vote and Dinner

Napa Rifle Team Defeats Ukiah in Early Season Match

Ukiah’s crack marksmen suffered a second loss as Napa shooters led by Ii vin Brown staged a strong afternoon comeback. Napa posted 978 points after lunch to topple Ukiah 66 in the morning, then Ukiah rebounded with 0 before falling short of Napa’s 978 in the late match. Joe Paningan led Napa with 198 and Brown followed with 197, while Ukiah’s Ken Cummins totaled 199 and several teammates scored in the 190s.

Ukiah Elks Dinner to Honor Ukiah Football Team

The Ukiah Elks Club hosts a dinner tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. in the Ukiah High School Cafeteria to honor the Ukiah Varsity football squad. An Outstanding Player award will be announced, with potential future recipients from other Lake or Mendocino counties. Ukiah finished the season 6 2 1, with Larry Myers and Jeff Banks named to the first string. coaches and staff are also recognized.

Lineman of Week Honors For Southern California

SAN FRANCISCO UPD Pete Lubisich was named Southern California lineman of the week after his standout play in Sur day’s 254 thumping of Notre Dame. His hits stopped ball carriers, downed a punt at the ND one yard line and sacked quarterback Diante Lamantea. Fullback Ben Williken of the Trojans was named back of the week earlier this week.

East's Eleven Selected for Shrine East Squad

NEW YORK UPI The Big Ten will provide 13 representatives to the East squad for the Shrine Game in San Francisco on December 29. Co coaches will be drawn from the conference, with Ara Parseghian of Northwestern and Jack Mollenkopf of Purdue listed among them.
