Wasp Causes Near Splash in Watson Rd Cliff-Hanger
John Ryan of Tracy, 30, was driving along Watcoet Road when a wasp entered his car. He swatted at it, veered off the road, and the vehicle plunged toward the Van Duesens pool but stopped short. Ryan, uninjured, said he was traveling about 20 mph. the incident halted as onlookers watched the precarious perch. The pool and yard sustained some damage while the wasp refused comment.

Fred Starbuck, 72, a Nevada hunter missing for 24 hours in the Sheep Ridge area near Covelo, was found at 4 30 yesterday afternoon. Sheriffs deputies aided by the U S Forestry Service and the sheriff's air patrol plus Tehama County searched all Sunday before locating him. He was in good condition.

Accidental Shot Kills Novato Boy in Willits Area
A 16 year old Novato boy, Guy Leo Perrone, died after a .22 rifle discharged while he sat on a motor scooter at his mother Dora Solbakkin’s home on String Creek Road near Willits. The hammer was pulled back and the cause of discharge was unknown. He died at Howard Memorial Hospital. The body was taken to Anker Funeral Home. A second accidental shooting occurred at Lake Pillsbury when 18 year old Lloyd Stiewig was struck in the leg. He was treated at Hillside Hospital.

A U S military spokesman said an American Air Force captain was killed when guerrillas fired on his plane near Bien Hoa Base. Four other Americans were wounded by mines and gunfire in South Vietnam. Captain Richard Dean Goss of Seattle was killed during night landing practice with a Vietnamese student pilot. The crash occurred 200 yards from the runway end. The captain was the 276th American to die in Vietnam since Jan 1, 1961, with 188 in combat. Another American officer was lightly wounded as a gunner during helicopter practice near Pleiku. helicopters returned fire and claimed 15 guerrillas killed.
