Roller Derby Thriller Ends In Overtime Victory For Westerners

In front of about 2 000 spectators at Lakeport Stadium the Westerners beat the Braves in overtime after a hammering duel between Ann Calvello and Mary Youppelle. The closing jam produced a 10 point surge for the Braves but the Westerners held on for the win amid spectacular spills and tough blocks.

Yankee Explosion in 10th Destroys Angels and Pennant Hopes

The New York Yankees erupted for seven runs in the 10th inning to crush the Los Angeles Angels 11 to 4, widening the AL lead to five games. Leon Wagner and Elston Howard homered for LA, while Roger Maris hit a grand slam as New York completed the comeback after a tight early game.
