Dodgers Beat Giants In 15th Inning Thriller

Don Drysdale and Lou Johnson powered the Dodgers over the Giants in a 15th inning comeback. Ron Perranoski earned the win after a tense late rally, as Maury Wills, Willie Crawford, and Jim Lefebvre contributed key plays. The Dodgers move within a half game of first in a tight NL race versus Philadelphia and Cincinnati.

Ukiah High School invites sophomores juniors and seniors to report for football with Coach Bill Taum at Chessall Gym Monday at 5 30 p m for a series of tid tid tid contact sessions before official physicals. Riverside survives in World Series duel

In Shawnee Oklahoma Riverside edged North Brook Illinois 2 to 1 to stay alive in the 13th Colt League World Series as Ken Kozl of North Brook held Riverside to one run on a two hitter but Riverside lefty Bob Torres of Greensboro NC stymied the opposition. Greensboro then defeated Houston 7 to 4 in a clash of unbeatens as Houston and Riverside prepared for a one game showdown with the winner needing a second victory to claim the title.

Long Beach Pony Undefeated in Western Regional Playoffs

Long Beach remained the only unbeaten team as Western regional Pony League playoffs opened in Santa Clara. They blasted Maui 10-0 while Richmond El Sobrante defeated National City in a 10 run driller. Maui and Richmond meet tonight to decide who faces Long Beach in the double elimination joust.

Maloney A Reds Pitch No Hitters Cubs in 1965 Opener

Cincinnati righthander Jim Maloney no-hit the Chicago Cubs for 10 innings in the first game of a doubleheader, striking out 12 and walking 10. He allowed only two infield balls as Cincinnati won 10 to 0. The no-no, the first by a Reds pitcher since 1947, followed a separate near-miss against the Mets earlier in the season.

The Ukiah Merchants clinched the Mendo Lake Sononna semi pro baseball title with an 8-5 win over Cloverdale at Anton Stadium.
