Harris takes post as Ukiah planning director

Michael Harris 31, UCLA graduate and Irvine’s first city planner, begins duties as Ukiah planning director. He replaces Richard Avey, who resigned last June. Harris is a Catalina Island native, educated in San Fernando and Camarillo, with a BA in geography from UCLA and a master’s from Cal State Northridge. He and his wife Jeri have two children, Kelli and Ryan.

Man Struck by Car In Critical Condition In Santa Rosa

An unidentified man, known as John Doe, remained in critical condition at a Santa Rosa hospital after being struck by a car on S State Street around 2 a.m. Saturday. The assailant, Charles E Schwarm, 23, of Ukiah, was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Detectives seek a couple in a large passenger car who nearly struck the victim before he darted into traffic.

Ukiah Warns Women After Serial Home Invasions

Ukiah police warn residents to lock doors and windows after a 22 year old woman was raped in her home this morning. detectives link the case to three prior attacks on white female victims ages 18 to 27 in the area over the past three months. suspects described as a white male 5 5 to 5 10 with curly hair, seen fleeing on foot. authorities urge reporting suspicious persons immediately and caution that attacks occurred in early morning hours.
