Huge Wilderness Bill hailed as conservation win in California

They were allies in 1962 on better government committees and Klee testified for Tindall in last year War of the Warrants case.

Mississippi informer letter ties to civil rights workers murders

Dick Gregory said he handed the FBI a letter from an informer naming where the three missing civil rights workers were buried near Philadelphia Mississippi and identifying the killers. He also claimed a taped interview with another Mississippi resident naming seven men. FBI declined to comment on the statements.

Ukiah valley ARCs workshop plan eyed by supervisors

The Ukiah Valley Association for Retarded Children seeks county funding to hire an administrator to design and coordinate a multi purpose workshop program for mentally retarded adults and adolescents. A tentative $10,656 budget would cover planning under Mental Health or Welfare budgets with possible state and federal aid. The board scheduled a Friday meeting with AVARC to discuss the proposal and work for the handicapped.

Mendocino County Valuation Up For 1964 65

The State Board of Equalization reports Mendocino County total assessed value at 96.922 million for 1964 65. County tangible property totals 81.682 million, up 1.399 million from last year, while state assessed utility property is 15.24 million, down 320 thousand. The drop reflects policy to align utility assessments with common property, with little new utility construction. State totals reach 32.3 billion in county values and about 4.4 billion in state assessed property.

City council discussion focused on historic water rights tied to Ukiah’s first water works and the McAllister property north of Low Gap.
