Mystery Illness Plague Haunts Pennsylvania Convention

Betty annexation rejected by LAFCO in Ukiah area

LAFCO denied a three parcel annexation request from the Munson subdivision to Ukiah by a 3 to 0 vote after area residents objected to the “nibbling away” of county land. The commission noted the area’s small population and possibility of a future vote only if amended to include properties from the city limits south to Talmage Road. The Ukiah city council would make final decision if approved. a LAFCO rejection bars another application for 12 months. Residents cited road width and potential loss of orchards and gardens as concerns. Betty Street and Lorraine Street area residents urged staying in the county or voting the plan down.

Fishing vessel crew safe near Shelter Cove

The captain Joe Pugh of Coos Bay and a male mate were found alive near Shelter Cove after abandoning their 90-foot fishing vessel. The vessel washed ashore seven miles north of Shelter Cove, searched since midnight by Coast Guard and local deputies. Coast Guard plane aborted due to poor visibility.
