Connally urges $250 million loan guarantee for Lockheed
Treasury Secretary Connally told a Senate appropriations subcommittee that the government must guarantee $250 million in bank loans to keep Lockheed solvent as it seeks $700 million in new financing for the Tristar project. He said saving Lockheed would protect 25,000 to 30,000 jobs and the nation's largest defense contractor from receivership. Nixon to decide on request within weeks.
