West lifts Lakers past Celtics with 53 point playoff night

Jerry West scored a playoff career high 53 points in a 120-118 LA win over Boston as Elgin Baylor added 24 and Wilt Chamberlain 13 blocks. West hit 21 of 41 shots, including a key pair of free throws with four seconds left, and the Lakers tied the best of seven series at Boston Gardens. Russell and Chamberlain matched stats, with Russell finishing strong while Red Auerbach remained hopeful of adjustments for Friday's game at the Forum.

Ukiah plans added nine holes at municipal golf course

Ukiah city crews advance the 3300 yard addition to the Ukiah Municipal Golf Course with nine greens and tees laid out near the current course. Heavy rains stall work until early next week. Local donors supply gravel and equipment. total greens and tees construction focus on drainage proper base layers and seed for 4500 square foot greens. Par remains 70 for the full 18 holes, with added holes described as long and challenging featuring rolling greens and several creek crossings.

Cal hosts JFK memorial track games on May 31

UC officials announce the first Kennedy Games in track and field to honor John F Kennedy and Robert F Kennedy. Rouse Wins as Substitute in Las Vegas Bout
