Oil rig sinks in Gulf. 13 die as survival capsule capsizes
Coast Guard reports 22 rescued from a sinking offshore rig 30 miles off Texas amid 50 to 60 knot winds and 20 foot seas. The saucer shaped capsule overturned trapping nine men in it. 13 died and seven were hospitalized. The Ocean Express platform broke from tow ships and sank in 180 feet of water.

State Bar Intervenes in Wood Disclosure Case
The State Bar of California has intervened as a friend of the court in the suit against Ukiah City Councilman Barry Wood by City Attorney Randy Hays and the Fair Political Practices Commission to force disclosure of Wood’s law clients. Wood argues Business and Professions codes protect client names while a 1974 act requires disclosure above $1,000. He also claims equal protection issues since non attorneys face higher disclosure.
