A four person Redwood Empire Fair board committee reached a tentative agreement with Gateway Community College on renting three fairground buildings and 45 000 square feet of southeast parking area. The rate is eight cents per square foot monthly for the Home Arts, Junior and Floriculture structures, totaling about 7984 dollars yearly. The college plans relocatable classrooms, admin offices, library, and labs across seven buildings for a two year term, with fencing and drainage work to be completed. State approvals are pending.

An 18-year-old Ukiah man, Mark R. Hilton of 521 Nokomis Street, is in satisfactory condition at Ukiah General Hospital after a self-inflicted gunshot wound while hunting. He slipped on Low Gap Road at 12 45 p m, causing a .22 pistol to discharge. The bullet entered two inches from his navel and exited his back.
