Pauling Wins Grant To Study Vitamins As Mental Illness Treatment
Nobel laureate Linus Pauling has secured a 325255 federal grant to continue research on using vitamins to treat mental illness at two California state hospitals. His orthomolecular psychiatry theory centers on high doses of vitamins C and B3, with prior work noting metabolic differences between mentally ill and healthy individuals. Pauling, 70, seeks to prove that optimum brain vitamin levels could improve mental health, a view he has long promoted alongside megavitamin therapy. Separate notices report Barney Salazar’s arrest in Lakeport on a bench warrant for failure to appear and Thomas Cooper’s arrest in Ukiah on probation violation. both were booked into county jail.
