Tandem Graduates Recall Poston Internment Trail
Miko and George Kaihara, longtime Tustin residents, will finally receive their diplomas from Tustin High School after decades. Their intertwined path began at Tustin Union High, was diverted by Executive Order 9066, and followed through three years in Poston internment camp. The couple, married in 1950 and now 90, will attend today’s ceremony with 550 peers, reuniting with a community that kept memories of a lost class alive.
