Tucson garden clubs win multiple awards at state convention

Tucson garden clubs and the Tucson Council of Garden Clubs collected six of 14 awards at the Arizona Federation of Garden Clubs 20th annual convention in Yuma. Desert Garden Club earned the president ribbon for outstanding club. La Madera Garden Club received two small show awards for its fall show, one for originality and one for most beautiful. The Tucson Council won a national Rose Rosette for its annual flower show and three state honors for best show and most beautiful show. Delegates included Mmes. Sundt, Roberts, Reid, McFall, and Elliott.

Field Service Committee Meets Sunday

Mr. and Mrs. William Wood will host the American Field Service activities committee for a potluck supper at Cloud Road at 6 pm. The meeting will plan activities and programs for the coming year with members including Hugh Thompson, Morris Udall, William Belden, Edward Hyde, and others.

Catalina Junior Woman's Club members will sign safety pledge cards Tuesday at 1 30 pm during a meeting at the Arizona Children's Home 2700 S Eighth Ave in cooperation with the Arizona Safety Council The program includes Mrs Donald Klauss executive secretary of the Arizona Children's Home Association Capt Harley Thompson of the Arizona State Highway Patrol and a Walt Disney film Motor Mania Tea will be served and new members will be introduced A bazaar and bake sale follows from 2 to 5 pm featuring Christmas gifts by Pima County Hospital registered nurses
