Marian Lusk of the University of Arizona was chosen as one of three American Airlines winners in the Conover airport beauty contest. She will fly to New York for a week of photographs and screen tests at the Conover agency after being selected April 27.
Jesse Willard Suffridge, 38, of 4319 S Belmont Ave, was charged with molesting children at Santa Rita Park. Police arrested him around noon Wednesday after reports of a man attempting to lure Girl Scouts into a car. An officer located the suspect at the park and detained him following another call about the same man.
Funeral services are planned in New York for Irving Waxey Gordon Wexler a prohibition era hoodlum millionaire who died in Alcatraz at age 63. His body arrived from San Francisco aboard a United Airlines cargo plane and was taken to a funeral chapel. Wexler died of a heart attack while serving a narcotics sentence and awaited trial on another narcotics ring charge.
KCNA-TV seeks channel 9 permit as Tucson adds a second local station to pursue television. FCC filings due by June 30 with initial processing after July 1. KCNA budgets 250000 for the outlet and may link with national networks. new stockholders Mills and Harber join Catalina Broadcasting.

Patrolman Lonnie Reed softened a disturbance at a cafe on Meyer street after a clash with Mack Pennington and Alfonso Swift. Reed broke Pennington’s head with a wood fragment of his nightstick. Pennington faced charges of being drunk and disturbing the peace and was allotted a $25 bond with a July 2 trial in magistrate court. Pennington was taken to the county hospital for a checkup after court.
Theodore Jennings 18 of Davis Monthan air force base suffered a severe head injury after being pitched from a sedan turning from South Park avenue onto East 17th street. He was treated at the base hospital. The vehicle driven by William Pritchard 21 carried six people and the door opened during the right angle turn.

Robert Gipson 30 of 438 West 27th Street held for county prosecution on a felony charge of aggravated assault against Harry Cooper 127 West 31st Street gasoline station owner. Cooper treated for a bite on his right ear at St Marys hospital after Gipson allegedly bit him during a dispute over waiting for the radiator to cool.
Australian Prime Minister Robert G. Menzies departed Washington by plane for San Francisco to continue homeward after talks with state department officials on the Pacific defense pact. He travels with his wife and five aides and is due in San Francisco at 6 16 p m Pacific standard time aboard American Airlines flight 43. The party will depart San Francisco on Monday.
New York Showman Billy Rose and Eleanor Holm face joint divorce and separation trials in State Supreme Court. Justice Aron Steuer set the date for September 10, noting the divorce action would nullify the separation if successful. Adultery cited as grounds.
The justice granted Rose the right to serve an amended complaint listing additional adulteries by his estranged wife. She denies the allegations.
