Otto Preminger says he has three film projects in progress. He starts shooting Bunny Lake Is Missing in July in New York, followed by Advise and Consent and The Side of the Angels. He downplays urgency of any single project and emphasizes talent over the latest show.
Postmaster Harold B. Collins announced that international mail rates will rise for lighter air parcels and fall for heavier ones effective next Saturday. An 8 ounce air parcel to Denmark rises from 1.44 to 1.80 dollars, Central American air letters go from 10 to 13 cents per half ounce, and South America from 10 to 15 cents per half ounce. Surface rates increase from 8 cents for the first ounce plus 5 cents each additional ounce to 11 and 7 cents respectively. Foreign cards become 7 cents, with Mexico and Canada exempt from increases. The Tucson post office rolls out an 11-cent foreign surface stamp. an 11-cent aerogramme and 13-cent airmail stamp are not yet available.
Cincinnati report states Lee Ray Botto passed a civil service test and appeared on a list for workhouse guards, then was scratched after it emerged he was already serving 30 days for theft in the workhouse.
Windsor England UPI reports Prince Philip acts as agricultural expert at the royal counties show. He asks Judge William Waterston what to look for in an Ayrshire cow and Waterston cites legs feet and other traits. The prince replies milk output matters most.
