Education Bill Snarled Further
A Senate subcommittee linked a $2 billion GI college program to the defense education bill expanding federal aid to veterans and veterans education. The plan offers college education for service men discharged since Jan 31, 1955, numbering about 4.25 million, while risks to the defense bill loom in the House. The measure adds loans for parochial school classrooms and broadens programs for librarians, physical fitness, English instruction, and university grants.
