Weight bar strangles athlete in basement workout
In South Charleston West Virginia Douglas Forth 32 bench pressed 380 pounds in a basement weight room when the bar trapped him on the chest and neck. His 4 year old son Doug Jr. ran to a neighbor for help but the bar had caused his death. Forth was a leading weightlifter at the YMCA and held many trophies.

Artillery ROTC at UA to open ranks to women this fall
The University of Arizona Army ROTC will admit women for the first time this fall. Col. Oren Bryant says the program offers the same training with optional weapons courses and notes women may join all militaryoccupational specialties except hard combat roles. Bryant hopes for several entering freshmen women this year as the Air Force ROTC at UA also accepts women.
