Big Nine athletes beat the West Coast 92 1 4 to 39 3 4 at Dyche Stadium setting a world record in the four man 480 yard shuttle relay with Bill Porter Northwestern leading teammates George Walker Illinois Tom Mitchell Indiana and Richard Maxwell Ohio State. Porter won two hurdles events and set a meet mark in the 120 yard high hurdles and 220 yard lows. Mel Patton Southern California withdrew with a leg issue after the sprint relay. Don Anderson California won the 100. Big Nine swept the 220 and collected 12 firsts plus one first place tie in 16 events.
