Red China To Free Trio Of Turnecoats
Red China announced it would repatriate three Americans and two Belgians who stayed in China after the Korean War. A Peiping radio broadcast said 17 others who refused repatriation could return at any time. Five named prisoners include Cpl. Lewis W. Griggs and Cpl. Otho G. Bell among others. The broadcast noted formalities and did not specify release timing. Two other American POWs who initially refused later returned to the United States after court martial. The U.S. government said it would arrange returns for any who change their minds, but warned those returning may be held accountable for past acts.

He notes wage gains elsewhere and condemns a 15 cent an hour cut as out of step with employer philosophy. He accuses TRT of prioritizing profits for out-of-town stockholders over community service and employees.
