Treasure Hunt Flight Honors Ninety-Nines At Marana Tower
In a vintage Marana tower revival, thirty-two women pilots competed in Operation Treasure Hunt a ground object navigation event sponsored by the Tucson Ninety-Nines. Pat Nolen and her son Mike navigated aboard a Musketeer 150 as Jim and Judy Preble, veteran flyers, chased targets across a 230 mile course with observers and 49ers on board. Winners included Lennie and Clara Combs flying a Funk 8 hp, who clinched first after a clever approach sequence while others faced off course twists and instrument quirks.
