UN Evicts Neutral Inspectors From Korea Over Arms Buildup

United Nations flew 16 neutral inspectors including Polish Czech Swiss and Swedish officers to Panmunjom in exile after eviction from South Korea. The departure, begun at 10 a.m. and ending at 3 08 p.m., followed protests against North Korean arms violations of the truce and the neutral commission proposed moving all teams out.

Eisenhower Operation Declared Complete Success

President Eisenhower underwent an emergency ileitis operation lasting about two hours. Doctors described the surgery a complete success with a four to six week path to full duties and possible early light work next week. He will likely sign papers and meet staff by Tuesday and may leave the hospital for convalescence in about 15 days.

Task Force To Tackle Job Layoffs

An 18 member task force was formed at the UAW interstate conference on unemployment to present proposed solutions to President Eisenhower. Led by Michigan Governor G. Navy jet crash kills six in Minneapolis blast

A Navy jet crashed in flames in a residential area near the airport in Minneapolis. The pilot Maj. George E. Armstrong and five others died. The explosion leveled one home and damaged five more as seven children were burned, five critically. Coroner reports two adult men, one woman, and three children recovered from the ruins.

Glen Canyon Dam Fund Approved by Senate Committee

The Senate Appropriations Committee endorsed an initial $9.325 million for Glen Canyon Dam work in Northern Arizona and recommended $13 million for the Upper Colorado River Project. Forest Fire Threatens Globe Colony

A wind driven Soret fire neared a 22 cabin Globe Colony near Signal Peak in the Tonto National Forest. Eight families were evacuated as crews battled the blaze advancing toward the 7,000 foot ridge. About 1,600 acres burned with 385 firefighters on scene. 200 more ordered and seven bulldozers deployed. The Forest Service says the fire is man caused and located 13 miles south of Globe with west winds aiding spread.

Micro Midgets Race Open Tonight at Downtown Airport

Tonight at 7:30 p.m. Micro midget auto racing at Downtown Airport East 36th Street opens to the public. Also at 7:30 p.m. Tucson faces Sun Sox in baseball at Hi Corbett Field and The Mighty Casey opera performs at El Conquistador Hotel band shell. Tomorrow includes Desert Museum open all day and a 3 p.m. baseball game Tucson versus Tijuana at Hi Corbett Field.
