Pima County Seeks More Funds for Tucson Ajo Road
Pima county supervisors passed a resolution asking the state highway commission to double its allocation to 300000 for paving the Tucson Ajo road beyond Sells in the Papago reservation. They argued 300000 is insufficient for rapid hard surfacing of the 125 mile route and noted Pima County’s share of the state population versus highway funds. Ajo district supervisor G T Alley cited a 55 mile gap of unpaved road between Sells and the Ajo end.
