Socialized Law Peril Warned by Arizona Bar President
Attorney Norval Jasper president of the State Bar of Arizona warned at a Tucson luncheon that law risks becoming socialized. He urged lawyers to push positive programs and neighborhood clinics as part of anti poverty efforts and to cooperate with probation departments to learn their rules while upholding clients rights.

New Adviser Named for UA Foreign Students
Hector Guglielmo succeeds Dr. John B. Carr as foreign student adviser at the University of Arizona. A Mexican native pursued a doctorate and has worked as a graduate assistant in the College of Education and led programs in international education. He previously led an industrial education program at Flagstaff High School and taught at Hackberry and Seligman schools. Carr is an English professor who served two years in the post.

Late MPs Leave Labor With Tie
In London the House of Commons faced a 281 to 281 tie over an American style corporation tax as three Labour MPs failed to appear. Sir Herbert Butcher, Conservative acting chairman, cast the deciding vote to keep the proposal alive, avoiding a defeat that could threaten Prime Minister Harold Wilson's prestige. Absentees included Anthony Wedgwood Benn Norman Pentland and Michael English.

Fire damages large vacant home on Verbena Avenue
A vacant four bedroom home at 2810 W Verbena Ave sustained 4500 in fire damage last night. Flowing Wells VFD began fighting the blaze at 1015 p m and had it under control by 1130 p m with no injuries reported. Owner is Mrs Ely Ensign of 4515 E Grant Rd and investigators are probing the cause.
