Beer and liquor stolen in Westside tavern burglary
A thief broke the back door of the Westside tavern at 623 W 29th St early today and stole three cases of beer and 10 fifths of wine. Ramon Ochoa of 1601 Riverview Rd discovered the break-in and reported it to the sheriff's department, with an estimated loss of 23 dollars.

First 1956 Tags Arrive In County In Sheriff Sale Story
County Assessor Leo J Finch announced the first 1956 motor vehicle tag shipment. Tags manufactured at state prison, with new black background and white numerals, will be issued after late December. The tag fee increased by the state legislature. Prices run 3.50 from January to July 1 and 2 after July 1. When the new law takes effect July 3, the price becomes 4 and 2.50. Buyers of 1955 tags after July 3 will pay the new 2.50 fee.
