Kennedy aims to sustain goodwill after Mexico trip

President Kennedy sought to extend good will from his 48 hour visit to Mexico City while acknowledging no rapid solution to U S Mexican issues. Discussions with President Lopez Mateos covered Cuba, Colorado River salt flows, and Mexican demands for El Paso acreage with both sides pledging to resolve temporary difficulties. He faces a July Fourth address to governors and a planned Brazil trip later in the month.

Six men held in $100000 theft from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base

FBI arrested six men and one civilian at Davis-Monthan for stealing $100000 in government property. They were arraigned before U.S. Commissioner Thomas McKay and waived preliminary hearings then sent to Pima County Jail. Names include 1st Lt Kirves and Sgt Milne. Kennecott Wage Pact Extended

Negotiators for Kennecott Copper Corp and United Steelworkers extended their contract for one week to avert a strike at Utah and Arizona plants. Mediators S L Johnson and Daniel Edwards led all night talks, extending the pact to July 8 with no reported progress. 1,250 workers at Magna Utah smelter and 700 at the refinery would have walked out, plus 375 at Ray Aziz. The International Union of Mine Mill and Smelter Workers agreed to day to day work but rejected the company's wage offers.

City Manager Recommends Sale Of Bonds

City Manager Mark E. Keane proposed selling 4 million dollars of general obligation street and sewer bonds next fiscal year and between 0.5 to 1.5 million of gasoline tax revenue bonds for the Broadway underpass and 22nd Street overpass plus rights of way toward an arterial route to Tucson Municipal Airport.
