Directors of the Pima County Sanitary District confront a pay crisis as workers threaten to quit unless their pay is raised. After a brief discussion, employees agreed to remain on the job through next Thursday noon.
The State Department said all covert financial support for overseas activities of U.S. educational and private groups will end by December 31 1967. The move follows a presidential committee review led by Nicholas Katzenbach and John Gardner. McCloskey declined to name affected groups, noting only a small fraction of the 1000 groups studied received secret funds.
Paris reports by Le Figaro quote Premier Pompidou warning the European Common Market could dissolve if five other members reject Charles de Gaulle leadership. The survey includes voices from leaders of four other market nations discontent with France blocking Britain.
