Woman 70 Strangled in State Train Berth
A grey haired woman Miss Ada C Park 70 was strangled while sleeping in a sleeper on the east bound Southern Pacific Golden State Limited. Harold T Lantz 28 admitted the rape attempt and strangulation while drunk after boarding in Tucson. He said he struck Miss Park when she resisted and fled the scene. The incident occurred between Bisbee Junction and Douglas early this morning. Park taught in Grinnell and lived with her parents after graduation from Grinnell College in 1904.

Taylor Refuses To Admit Loss In Primary
US Senator Glen H. Taylor of Idaho and former Rep. Terry Carpenter of Nebraska refused to concede defeat in close primary races. Clark leads Taylor in Idaho by about 1,000 votes with 770 of 839 precincts reporting. Carpenter trails Raecke in Nebraska by about 1,000 votes as 2,074 precincts report. Raecke could win but Carpenter won’t seek a recount if Raecke prevails. Taylor awaits official count and would concede if Clark definitively wins. The winners face Gov. Val Peterson in November. Peterson led in the GOP in Nebraska.
