In Guthrie Oklahoma a Mexican War veteran, Wash Lindsay of the Thirteenth Ohio, recounts a quest for hidden idols of gold and silver after a skirmish with Indians near Red Rock crossing. News of the tale has set western Oklahoma men hunting for treasure, following reports of a skull with an arrow found near Sale Fork creek.

The thief returned the goods and was lectured by the family before being given a meal and released with a promise to reform.
