Warranties clash with Bendix over mobile homes in Tucson case

Priscilla Moore testified before the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, recounting a four year battle with Bendix Corp over a defective mobile home warranty. The Moores argue for stricter federal controls and clearer coverage terms as they seek full reimbursement for losses totaling about $13,000 from floods and damage across two homes. The FTC has scheduled further hearings in San Francisco with a November 14 testimony deadline.

Arizona Senators Split on Min Wage and Air Bags Vote

Barry Goldwater and Dennis DeConcini split on key issues with Goldwater opposing a raise in the federal minimum wage and opposing air bag mandates while DeConcini voted for both. The Senate passed the wage bill 63 24 and killed a measure disapproving the Transportation order 65 31. In the House three of four Arizona reps aligned with DeConcini on the wage and safety votes and opposed procedural reform.
