Santa Cruz flood sets new regional record in 72 years
The Santa Cruz River at Tucson reached peak flow up to 25 000 cubic feet per second near Nogales and 30 000 cfs from Continental to Nogales, marking the largest flood in 72 years of records. Officials cite heavy rains Thursday through Sunday from tropical storm Heather, with 5 to 10 inches of rain in four days, triggering widespread runoff from the Patagonias and Santa Ritas.
