Arizona Charlie Taken to asylum in Tombstone
In Tombstone superior court Judge Lockwood and the lunacy commission declared the tramp known as Arizona Charlie insane after examination. Sheriff Wheeler took him to Phoenix. The article recounts Charlie's long, troubled life as a railway tramp once named James Drumgold, who suffered loss after a family tragedy on a train wreck and spent years walking the rails from Yuma to El Paso, aiding others and earning a wary yet kind reputation among Southern Pacific workers.
