A correspondent from Arizona describes continuing Yaqui fighting with a grim outlook. He portrays persistent clashes and persistent danger, detailing local impacts and the unresolved military situation.
Frederick Holstrom of Kingman Arizona received a letter from San Marcial Sonora describing Yaqui rebels controlling territory from San Marcial north to Chumunpaco south. Mexican troops are confined to roads and towns. six Yaquis died in a clash and Johnson was mortally wounded before Holstrom and companions reached San Marcial. Holstrom plans to return to Arizona after healing.
Early returns show Republicans will hold the next House with a reduced majority. Democratic managers concede a Republican majority of about fifteen, while Republicans claim around twenty one with more returns possible. Speaker prospects include Cannon Littlefield and Sherman as contenders. Odell’s statewide plurality is reported at 11 262.
Nearly complete returns show the Republicans have elected their entire State ticket with the possible exception of superintendent of schools and two of three congressmen. Democrats hold an eighteen vote edge on joint ballot unless Republicans gain control of the lower house and unseat Arapahoe county delegation.

A dispatch from Mexico reports W. C. Greene of Arizona and three Americans bought a 7,500,000 acre tract in Sonora to form the world’s largest cattle ranch. The land, 125 by 100 miles, will be fenced with four strands of wire and support about 50,000 cattle with irrigation aims. Greene heads Greene Consolidated Copper, famed for Cananea mines.
Boston police say a watch owned by Clara Morton, murdered on Saturday, was pawned by a black man. The discovery shifts focus to a likely black suspect after recent assaults in the city, with investigators expanding inquiries to identify the man responsible.
In Phoenix on November 6, Republican leaders announced Colonel Wilson has secured the Delegate to Congress seat. From distant precincts in Globe Arizona the count is slow but indicates Wilson leads by a substantial margin. Democrats predict a 100 vote edge for Wilson while Republicans concede Morrison misses by about fifty votes to carry the county.
